Prep
- Check X-ray, plan position
- Check neurovascular status baseline
- Gather: Tubifast, padding, POP, crepe, bowl, scissors
Execute
Measure & Cut
- Length: MCP heads to 3cm below elbow crease
- Width: 10-15cm (half circumference)
- Layers: 10-12 for backslab
Apply
- Tubifast liner with thumb hole
- Padding (cotton) - minimal, smooth
- Wet POP in lukewarm water, squeeze excess
- Apply slab, mould to contours
CAUTION
POP gets hot - don't use hot water
- Fold Tubifast ends back
- Wrap with crepe (firm, not tight)
Finish
- Check neurovascular status again
- Educate: elevate, no weight, return if pain/numbness/blue
- Document and arrange follow-up
