Due

Week 7

Requirement

Mandatory

Details

Setup BVM with O2 supply, perform effective ventilation

What Assessors Look For

Correct assembly of BVM with oxygen
Good mask seal (C-E grip)
Appropriate rate and volume
Recognition of effective ventilation
Two-person technique

Key Points to Demonstrate

1Assembly: mask → bag → oxygen tubing → connect to O2 at 15L/min
2C-E grip: thumb and index finger form C on mask, other fingers lift jaw (E)
3Rate: 10-12 breaths/min (one breath every 5-6 seconds)
4Volume: enough to see chest rise - about 500-600mL
5Two-person: one person holds mask with both hands, other squeezes bag
6If not working: reposition airway, check seal, consider adjunct

Tips for Success

  • 💡Good seal is everything - spend time getting it right
  • 💡Don't hyperventilate - slow and steady
  • 💡Two-person technique is always better if help available
