Key Points to Demonstrate
1Check prescription: fluid type, volume, rate, additives
2Check fluid: correct bag, in-date, no particles, intact seal
3Prime line: spike bag, hang high, open roller clamp, prime until no bubbles
4Connect: clean hub with chlorhexidine, connect, check flow
5Rate: mL/hr = total volume ÷ hours; drops/min = volume × drop factor ÷ minutes
