Advanced Life Support (ALS)

Key Facts

Adult defibrillation energy is commonly 200 J biphasic (or follow manufacturer recommendation).

The 4 Hs of reversible causes are: Hypoxia, Hypovolaemia, Hypo/hyperkalaemia, Hypothermia

The 4 Ts of reversible causes are: Tension pneumothorax, Tamponade, Toxins, Thrombosis (PE/MI)

Adrenaline dose in cardiac arrest is 1 mg IV/IO every 3-5 minutes.

In VF/pVT, give adrenaline after the 2nd shock and amiodarone 300 mg after the 3rd shock.
